"Wasser marsch" (2025)
Water research station in the primary school playground – education & nature go hand in hand
In a wonderful collaboration with the Nature Park Primary School, an exciting project was realised that turns our youngest citizens into little researchers!
Experience natural phenomena up close
At the heart of this initiative is the new water researcher weather station in the school garden. This has been supplemented by a weatherproof box filled to the brim with exciting research materials. This unique equipment now enables pupils to observe weather phenomena and analyse the connections between water and climate in a practical and interdisciplinary way, right on site.
Successful workshops and knowledge transfer
At the end of the project on 22 May 2025, the pupils were able to learn about the significance of water and climate in interactive water workshops and experience their importance for our ecosystem in a playful way.
We also focused on the importance of water at the summer festival on 13 June 2025. At its own information stand, the nature park explained the many facets of water: from "good & useful water" (such as our vital drinking water or irrigation) to "bad & dangerous water" (such as wastewater or the challenges of flooding).
This project not only strengthens environmental education, but also promotes awareness of the sustainable use of our most important natural resources.
The project was funded by the Association of Austrian Nature Parks (VNÖ) with the support of BIPA.
