Current work program

Nature conservation and education in the Vienna Woods

Together with partners, the Purkersdorf Nature Park protects valuable habitats, maintains meadows and waterways, and raises awareness of nature and climate issues.

For the period from April 2025 to December 2026, we have set ourselves the following goals, which we intend to implement with external funding projects.

Combining nature conservation with education

The Purkersdorf Nature Park is committed to preserving biodiversity, protecting valuable habitats and ensuring sustainable visitor management in the Wienerwald through a wide range of projects. Together with partners such as Vienna Forest Administration , new habitats for animals and plants are being created, sensitive areas are being protected and access for visitors is being improved. New orientation boards and signage ensure a uniform appearance and a nature-friendly visitor experience.

Meadows and watercourses

Another focus is on the maintenance and sustainable management of meadows, orchards and watercourses. Careful mowing, renaturation measures and targeted maintenance projects preserve valuable biotopes and cultural landscapes.

Encounters with nature

The nature park also sees itself as a location for environmental education and encounters: action days, readings, competitions such as the "Naturparkhonig" competition, and educational programmes for schools and families bring topics such as climate protection, biodiversity and sustainable living to life. Events such as the "Naturpark- und Klimafest" or the citizen science initiative "Augen Auf im Naturpark" invite people to get involved and promote awareness of nature and the environment.

A strong partner for the region

Through close cooperation with local authorities, schools, associations and regional partner companies, the Purkersdorf Nature Park makes a significant contribution to preserving the Wienerwald region as a lively recreational, learning and natural environment â€“ for current and future generations.
